Confirm first that you can upload the same image or video from your site’s wp-admin > Media section. If this also fails, you can verify your Maximum upload file size listed at the bottom of the Upload New Media page to confirm if this needs to be increased.
To increase your upload file size add the following lines to your root .htaccess file or contact your host for assistance:
php_value memory_limit 128M
php_value upload_max_filesize 128M
php_value post_max_size 128M
php_value max_execution_time 120
Failed message is only happening in the app.
- Try uploading the image from a different internet connection. If your network isn’t stable, this can cause an image upload to fail.
2. Next, if your site is connected to WordPress.com either through Jetpack or as a WordPress.com site make sure the connection to WordPress.com is active and working correctly. You may need to reconnect Jetpack if the communication with your WordPress.com account has been broken.
3. Contact your web host and check to see if they’re blocking or otherwise limiting incoming and outgoing connections over XML-RPC. The WordPress mobile apps use this file to communicate with your site, but some hosts limit and block connection requests to that file.
4. Check for any plugins that may be causing an issue. You can disable all plugins except Jetpack and any plugins managed by WordPress.com and repeat the action that is causing the problem. If the issue doesn’t replicate, you can reactivate the plugins one at a time until the issue returns to narrow down the problematic plugins.
If you’re still having difficulty after following these steps, reach out to our support team via the app at My Site > Profile Icon > Help & Support > Contact Support. If possible, share a screenshot of any error messages you received and logs from your device.
