The WordPress Android app version 3.5 is now available in the Google Play Store.
We’ve made a lot of small and bigger changes to the app design. In this version, we’re following Material design principles by using Lollipop components and styling. Most of these enhancements are available for pre-Lollipop devices, but a few details only work on Android Lollipop or later (ripple animations, for example).
Mentions auto completion in comments
With this latest version, when you start typing “@” and a letter, all matching blog member usernames and names will be shown in a popover view on top of the text you’re editing. Mentions auto completion has been integrated into the Reader, Notifications and Comments. Watch the following video for an example.
- When you first login to the app, we fetch your blog lists and visibility status, and hide the sites you’ve hidden on the “My Blogs” section of you dashboard. Note these changes are not synced in case you want to set a different visibility status on your phone.
- We’ve redesigned the media grid on tablets, replacing the old dual pane view with a simple grid view for all devices and orientations.
- When sharing certain links (YouTube links, for example), the server auto-embeds content instead of just creating a link.
If you’re experiencing something wrong with that new version, please contact support or report the bug on our bug tracking page on GitHub.
